Bruce Springsteen with the Seeger Sessions Band
Oslo Spektrum, Oslo, Norway
October 29, 2006
Recorded by Bull

Lineage:
Core Sound LC binaural mics > iRiver H320/Rockbox (44.1kHz 16-bit WAV) > small edits in Audacity > tracks split with CDWave > FLAC level 6.

Taping position:
Section 109, row 1, seat 10 (right behind the left cameraman, ~ 6-7 meters from the soundboard man)

Another recording I'm pleased with, even if the babysitter was late, and i broke the clip for the left mic when I put it on in the men's room before the show. My wife had learned to shut up (she accepted it better this time than she did in may), and Christian had got ut nice seats. I messed up and set the recorder to do some automatic volume adjustment, but it was set to "slow/live", and I discovered it halfway in the show, so no major fuckup. the "problem" is not noticeable to my ears, but maybe for others.

Tracks:
Atlantic City
John Henry
Ol' Dan Tucker
Further On (Down the Road)
Jesse James
O Mary Don't You Weep
Love of Common People
Growin' Up
Erie Canal
My Oklahoma Home
The River
Mrs. McGrath
How Can A Poor Man Stand Such Times and Live?
Jacob's Ladder
Long Time Comin'
Open All Night
Pay Me My Money Down
(encore)
Fire
Land of Hope & Dreams
You Can Look (But You Better Not Touch)
When the Saints Go Marching In
This Little Light of Mine
American Land

There is no fade-in, and only a small fade-out after "American land". I'm not making any fades at the end of CD1 or the beginning of CD2, because not all people listen to these shows on CD anymore, and some might want to split differently than I do. The natural place to split CDs is between tracks 13 and 14 ("How can a poor..." and "Jacob's ladder"), but it's also place on two CDs if you choose to split between 11/12 or 12/13.

The show? Perfect as always. We ARE, after all, talking about Bruce Springsteen.

"Backstreets" show report:
October 29 / Oslo, NOR / Spektrum
Notes: An equipment truck jackknifes on the way to Oslo, but damage is mimimal and the show goes on. "Atlantic City" moves to the opening slot and "Growin' Up" returns to the set; "Fire" once again opens the encore. A real highlight is the return of "Land of Hope and Dreams" -- Springsteen's modern contribution to the folk canon this show celebrates, and a natural for this tour -- which debuted in Barcelona and is played for just the second time here.

"Backstreets" news:
UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL IN OSLO
During yesterday's soundcheck in Oslo, Springsteen talked with reporters about the Seeger Sessions album and tour, now more than halfway through its final European leg. "You're a always in shock at how something you, say, started in your little bedroom... or we started in the living room of my farmhouse... how it plays out, thousands of miles from home." Watch the interview online now. And dig that guitar!
