Unfortunately, Ed was notorious for "preserving" these priceless masters on cheap Shamrock tape(!) and by 1993, his reels were already drying out and shedding oxide. I very carefully transferred them to DAT. I previously had cassette copies of many of Ed's reels that had been transferred a year earlier by another of Ed's friends. When I was transferring the reels myself, I was shocked to discover several additional songs! It seems that Ed's other friend refused to transfer songs if as little as a few seconds (or more) were missing. Unfortunately, many of those transfers made it into circulation. As previously mentioned, those transfers were made to analog cassette. This transfer was made direct to DAT. This is the first time that this particular transfer is being put into wide circulation. There may be other equally complete transfers of Ed's reels in circulation, but they were made years later when the reels had deteriorated much more. When I transferred the reels, they were already showing signs of age. This is a raw transfer with no additional fixes or processing. I still think it sounds better than any other copies in circulation. Please do not circulate this recording without this info file. Seeded to Jungleland on 2014-06-01 by rockcat
