World premier of Bonney Lee, only performance of the tour. Japan premier of a standalone The Wheel, only standalone perfomance of the tour. Last time performed standalone in Milano 2000-04-08. Recording comments: Complete. Recorded in sound center, in the middle of the room, ca 5 meters from the stage. Well balanced mix, very good sound. There is an edit in The Wheel due to change of minidiscs. Performance comments: Great gig with a couple of surprises. Motorpsycho's first headlining show in Japan. Small club, ca 100-150 people. The two Japanese bands Kirihito and Mo'Some Tonebender supported Motorpsycho. Highlights: Go To California catches yet another twist in this take, letting room for the reborn powertrio to rock the house down already during the first song. Dominoes is, if not a highlight, at least a new song, and hopefully an embryonic one. A weird mix between Wings' "Live And Let Die" and your -by now- classic, stomping Love Cult kind of rocker in the vein of Neverland/Snafu. Next time I go to Japan, I will bring that famous needle, just to drop it at the end of All Is Loneliness. Tender version with Bent on a new acoustic guitar. Beautiful audience, they actually wait for a signal from the band before they start cheering! Neverland is here the longer version with a great guitar workout. STG is beautifully tailed again for the first time since the 1998 Trust Us tour. Another dream come true. Bonney Lee is supposedly a cover, although I'm not sure who has got the original. All Music Guide suggests Hank C. Burnette, although his 1979 song is called Bonnie Lee. Motorpsycho's spelling is taken from their setlist. Anyway, the song is a groovy, fast rocker. Very cool, and very 1979ish. It's way out of everybody's voice range, but great fun, nevertheless. The first standalone The Wheel in years ends this rocking set in a most psychedelic and heavy way. Superstooge (disguised as Ju87) was on the setlist before The Wheel, but was dropped. No encores due to curfew. Both Bedroom Eyes and Vortex Surfer were on the setlist as possible encores. The band were very pleased with their performance and with the audience. (As was I, I might add...) e-mail: anders.hustveit@usit.uio.no web: http://folk.uio.no/ahustvei/ SHN torrent -> WAV -> ALAC
